NOTICE

Rock Slope Engineering Lab at the Department of Mining Engineering IIT(ISM) Dhanbad  is working on mine slope monitoring, slope behaviour modelling, using inter-disciplinary research tools, remote sensing (including unmanned aerial vehicle technology), numerical modelling, sensors-based wireless system, and machine learning etc. This lab is also working on the challenges posed due to slope failures in the mines and associated mitigation measures. Primarily we were looking for motivated and enthusiastic individuals to join our team for a summer internship. The incoming intern will be able to work with the senior research scholars and post-doc on the topics mentioned above.

This internship will not award any fellowship or remuneration to the incoming intern.

Responsibilities:

1. Analyse data and assist with technical writings
2. Participate in weekly lab meetings and presentations
3. Doing numerical modelling/sensor integration/building machine learning models

Requirements:

1. Currently enrolled in a degree program in Engineering or Science. The Students of Mining, Civil, Electrical, Electronics, Computer science will be preferred.

Topics:

1. Mine Slope Stability Analysis using Numerical Modelling

2. 3D reconstruction of rock particles

3. Application of photogrammetry principles for assessing stability conditions of Slope

4. Wireless Sensing System

5. Developing smart devices for miners’ safety

6. Mine Haul Road Stability and Maintenance

Duration: The internship of 8 weeks, starting in May 2024.

Please note: That this is an unpaid internship. However, we offer valuable experience and the opportunity to learn from experts in the field. Sensors and related material will be provided to the incoming intern as applicable and necessary.
